MGLS was established since 2000 including gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, physician and surgeons. There were various activities including public talks, International Symposium, Local endoscopy workshops, Hepatitis B vaccination program conducted after establishment of MGLS. MGLS is one of speciality society of Myanmar Medical Association. MGLS was subdivided into Myanmar Gastroenterology Association (MGA) and Myanmar Hepatology Association (MHA). Current MGLS President is Professor Thein Myint (since 2019 February). Current MGA President is Prof Nwe Ni and current MHA President is Prof Naomi Khaing Than Hlaing respectively.
