The Iranian Association of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (IAGH) was established in 1993 and currently has more than 2000 members including gastroenterologists, internists, and GI fellows. The educational programs and face-to-face interaction and information exchange allows physicians to share knowledge and techniques that can be applied to their future patients. Members are kept informed and up-to-date with the most modern methods for diagnosis and treatment, thereby improving the level of medical care.IAGH has been established to meet our country’s educational, research, health, and medical needs, and has come a long way in achieving these goals. Here is a brief description of the activities of the Association since its official establishment:
Conferences:
Since its inception, IAGH has been holding monthly conferences on the latest in gastrointestinal and liver disease. The first conference was held at Ibn-e-Sina Hall of Tehran University School of Medicine on 1994 and since then the meetings are held regularly on the last Thursday of each month. The conference is now held in the IAGH Conference hall. The annual list of conferences including dates, title, and name of speakers becomes available on the IAGH web site each July. The conference is broadcasted live on the IAGH web site and remote participants have the opportunity to actively participate in discussions.
