Established in 1966
The Asian-Pacific Society for Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE) was established in 1966 and was legally established under Hong Kong law thereby providing all members with legal protection under the Presidency of Prof William S.C. Chao. The constitution was posted to members in October 2002.
In 2014, Prof Seigo Kitano was elected to be the President, the headquarters of the society was situated in Japan. During the Presidency, He especially made considerable efforts toward education, such as train-the-trainer workshops and organizing therapeutic endoscopy symposia in various countries.
The objective for establishing the APSDE is to make the Asian Pacific region excel in education and research in all aspects of digestive endoscopy and Gastroenterology. It is also a bridge to co-ordinate and correlate the efforts of organizations, companies, associations and societies interested in the cause, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and diseases with a view to reducing morbidity and mortality. APSDE also aims at promoting, developing and assisting medical profession in the study of information concerning the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of digestive diseases.
